SMH’s new Bedfordshire site moves up a gear
The construction of SMH Fleet Solution's new £16m vehicle refurbishment facility and administration centre in Thurleigh has moved up a gear.
Developer G F Tomlinson Construction is pleased to report that the steel structure of the main building is now in place and an artist’s impression of the new site has been released (shown below).
In addition, internal office layouts have been planned and to support the installation of the main bodyshop, SMH has invested £1m in new paint booths, paint ‘baking’ ovens and other specialist equipment.
Designed by St. Modwen, the 29 acre facility will store up to 4,500 vehicles and include a state of the art 40,000 sq ft vehicle inspection, repair and refurbishment workshop.
This will give SMH customers improved access to the most comprehensive demo, company, pool and press vehicle supply, as well as vehicle movement and maintenance services.
Martin McAuley, Managing Director at SMH announced, "We are very pleased with the progress at Thurleigh. It means we are on track to open this autumn, one of the most technically advanced fleet support and refurbishment centres in Europe."
